If you sign up for our tax preparation services by paying our retainer, we have the unilateral option to deny you professional services, if we believe that your background and tax file are troublesome. We will stop any work we are doing, calculate the cost and return the unused retainer to you. Please do not be offended by the clause. It is to protect our firm and our other clients from "problem clients."

After we deliver a tax guide, a solution, advice or a tax return, we are not responsible to update you on changes in the tax law or other changes that may effect you.

We do keep in touch with ongoing tax preparation clients and will attempt to follow up with you on any tax matters that come to our attention. Some clients utilize our address for tax filings and of course we immediately forward any tax correspondence to you.

As is the case with all CPA and tax professionals, we do not "guarantee" tax results in any way. The final tax return positions taken are usually done after we consult with you, and together we agree on how aggressive to be (eg. vis a vis deductions). We base our return positions on careful tax research but there are always "audit risks" and problem agents. We are willing to defend tax returns until the end, but in most cases you must pay us fees for this service.

Many Traders who purchase our Trader Tax Solution Package or other consultation time blocks may not follow our advice in full or in part. We are not responsible to them in any way. We only are responsible to "preparation service" clients, because then we can handle the tax return from beginning to end and we sign it. We have no control over what consulting clients do with the answers we give them.

Consulting clients are expressly prohibited from using our name in any tax exam, without our advance consent. We encourage you to follow our advice in consultations and if you get examined, then consult with us again before your exam. We can represent you in the exam, but you must pay us our standard hourly fees for this service.
